Adair F. deBerry-Carlisle, DO, FACS, FACOS

Double Board-Certified Trauma Surgeon

Dr Adair deBerry-Carlisle is a double board-certified trauma surgeon who specializes in acute care surgery which is a triad made up of trauma, surgical critical care and emergency general surgery. She has been a full-time locums surgeon since 2018 and has 17 active licenses including the IMLC.

Prior to her interest in locums, Dr deBerry-Carlisle was the chair of emergency surgical services in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a staff trauma surgeon in Gainesville, Georgia and Austin, Texas. She was also the trauma medical director in Bryan, Texas and successfully transitioned her hospital from a level 3 to a level 2 trauma center. She earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of South Carolina in Columbia and worked in Uruguay as an English Liaison for members of the British royal family  and presidents and CEOs of multiple companies including Ambercrombie, Kent, and Revlon. Upon returning to the US, she enrolled and completed a one-year program earning her certificate of fluency in Spanish at  El’Instituto de Lengua Española in Costa Rica before returning to school to pursue her medical career. She completed 4 years of additional premedical requirements at the University of Houston and subsequently graduated from the University of North Texas/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her surgical residency at UMDNJ-SOM in Stratford, New Jersey and her fellowship in surgical critical care at UT-Houston/Memorial Hermann hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

Dr deBerry-Carlisle is an accomplished equestrian, an avid hunter and enjoys fly fishing and offshore sport fishing. She is a competitive shooter in shotgun sports and has competed in numerous tournaments across the country. As a requirement for having been born in Augusta, Georgia she certainly loves a good round of golf. She has been married to her wonderful husband, Ben, for 28 years.
