Meet Sheila Barnes our AIR Co-Chair. She started with AIR in March 2023 as the secretary. She works for UNC Health in North Carolina as a Network Development Specialist. Sheila joined AAPPR in 2018 and have been very active in participating in different activities. She earned her CPRP certification in 2020 and became an AAPPR mentor in 2022. She enjoys mentoring new physician recruiters and have mentored new directors as well. She started in Physician recruitment in 2016 and prior to that she was in Nurse recruitment and held leadership roles with Duke Medical Center and Vidant Health now ECU Health.

Sheila’s passion is in rural recruitment, and she has been very successful due to the fact she was reared in a rural community; therefore, she understands the plight. She has a BS in Business Administration from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC, Master’s in Public Administration and several certifications. Sheila sees herself as a life learner and is always willing to share her knowledge. She is also a tea enthusiast and enjoys a traditional tea party whether it is high tea or afternoon tea. Lastly, but certainly not least, Sheila is a mother of one son: Joseph.
